Implant Procedures

As a result of major advancements in dental implant procedures and technology, most patients can be considered candidates for dental implant treatment.

Are You a Candidate for Dental Implants?

During your consultation, Dr. Robinson will determine the:

  • quality and quantity of bone where the implant(s) will be placed

  • number of dental implants needed to achieve the optimal result

  • need for other procedures that may be necessary to enhance esthetics or function

Dr. Robinson utilizes cutting edge technology such as 3D imaging and Yomi Robotics to obtain the most accurate and detailed view of your teeth, bone and facial structures. This allows for most precise diagnosis and treatment planning available.

Once the surgical evaluation has been completed, Dr. Robinson will collaborate with your dentist to finalize the ideal treatment plan to meet your individual needs.

What Happens During the Treatment Process?

If the tooth to be replaced has not yet been removed, the first procedure is surgical removal. If Dr. Robinson has determined you do not have sufficient bone for a dental implant, you will need a bone graft in the area of where the implant will be placed.

In some cases, implant placement can be completed immediately following tooth removal. In other cases the implant will be placed after the site and bone graft have healed.

Implant Placement

Dr. Robinson utilizes a gentle technique to prepare the surgical site and place the dental implant in the proper position.

A small cover screw or healing abutment is then attached to the implant. For a period of weeks to a few months following surgery, the implant will be left undisturbed to allow integration in the bone.

Abutment Attachment

After the appropriate amount of healing time you will return to Dr. Robinson’s office to evaluate the biological bond between your bone and the dental implant.

Once the implant has properly fused to your bone you will then be instructed to return to your dentist for the placement of a connector post called an abutment. The abutments are used to attach the replacement teeth to your implants.

Replacement Teeth

The final phase of treatment is designing and fabricating the replacement crown, bridge or set of teeth. This portion of treatment is carried out by your dentist and laboratory technician. Your dentist will determine the best tooth shape and shade to match your face and natural teeth.

Once the replacement teeth are fabricated your dentist will attach them to the abutments. This is usually the final step in the treatment process.
